Wingspan Bird Tier List

Wingspan Bird Tier List

This is a tier list of every bird in Wingspan's digital edition, including all the expansions and promo packs, ranked by a computer player. We built a computer player for Wingspan and had it play 470,000 three-player games against copies of itself. Then we looked at every bird a player drew blind off the deck and asked one question: did the players who got that bird end up further ahead than the players who got some other bird? The answer, in points, is the number under each card. Each tab is a separate list. Pick one, then tap a card for details.

The number is the bird's worth in points. It measures the change in your final lead over your best opponent (your score minus theirs) when you get this bird in place of an average one. Nobody chooses the top card of the deck, so across thousands of games everything else washes out and the difference belongs to the bird.

Values by round. Each bird has five values: one for the starting hand and one for each round. In these games the computer kept each starting bird on a coin flip, so luck decides which birds a player gets there too. White Stork is worth +7.7 points in the starting hand, +3.6 in round 2 and +1.2 in round 4. The number on the card blends the five, leaning on the early rounds because players gain more birds then. Tap a card for all five.

Based on 470,000 games, all played by the computer against copies of itself.

Rate birds forUntick the starting hand or a round to leave it out of the values. A value for a single round has a wider margin of error.

Click a column heading to sort by it. A bird's true value very likely lies within the margin of error on either side of the number shown.

Value
the bird's worth in points: the change in your final lead over your best opponent when you get this bird in place of an average one
Margin of error
the true value very likely lies this far either side of the number
Plays per 100 games
how often the computer played it, counting all three players
Forced play
now and then the computer was made to play a bird at random instead of the one it wanted. This is the average change in its final lead, in points, when the random pick was this bird. Near zero means it was about as good as the computer's choice, and a large negative number means the computer was right to pass it over
Usual round
the average round in which the computer played it
Points it scores when played
printed points plus the eggs, cached food and tucked cards on it at game end
